Social Media Usage

Social media for me was first used really for me when I was in middle school to just connect with my friends. It started for me with Facebook, and although all my friend’s pretty much all have Facebook, it really evolved from that, and I don’t really use Facebook to talk with them. I really use it now a lot to just check out sports news, whether it has to do with scores, or any big trade deals or a team drafting a player. Usually though well I’m on there I will uncover other stories in my news feed, whether it has to do with politics, a breaking news story or even if there is severe weather moving into the area, I’ll usually get the information and track the storm from there. Snapchat I use quite a bit to connect with people more than any other social media app/site. The interesting thing about Snapchat is not only can you chat with friend’s but you can let everyone know what you’re doing at the moment with your story and the filters make it fun to use. As of the last year especially, Snapchat has really done a nice job with keeping everyone updated on news going on. They have stories from all over the world and let you see places I probably never would see and even holiday’s in other countries I would never of even know about had it not been for Snapchat making a story about it. They also have stories on Buzzfeed which you can find a lot of videos on Facebook as well, but now they have moved a topic’s over to Snapchat as well which I enjoy. Twitter definitely I really don’t use all that much, I feel more like it’s used for entertainment news and what celebrities are tweeting about more than anything so I don’t typically like to really post on there. YouTube is usually used to post either if I’m extremely bored or really a lot of the time it’s off of Facebook. Someone I know will leave the link of a video I should check out and I’ll end up watching that as well as the suggested videos it offers to go along with the video that was shared with me, and if I like it a lot I will usually share it as well. The other cool thing I like about YouTube is the comments section. I always for some reason find it fascinating to see other people’s view on a video. Instagram I used to be into a lot, I would usually just post like sports related meme’s on there, but now I don’t really post tons on there, because I feel like you can only do so much by posting pictures. You can get basic information from there, but I feel like Facebook definitely gives more in depth because usually there is a link to go with the headline that grabs your attention. I think that with all of these different ways to get news from social media really help keep me informed at all times what’s going on, as well as the rest of the world
