So what is it about Marijuana that gets people up in arms and has the nation so divided? Whether you are pro-weed or not, the recorded benefits of the ‘gateway drug’ that is classified unfairly as a Schedule 1 along with the likes of heroine, should speak for themselves.

Despite what the federal government says, medicinal marijuana definitely has multiple medical benefits and should be legalized. This ‘War on Drugs’ is nothing more than a war on poverty and the people.

“War on Drugs” or “War on Poverty”?

The Drug Enforcement Administration clarified that marijuana extracts — including cannabidiol (CBD) — fall under Schedule I drug classification, making all forms of the plant illegal under federal law.

Assuming this information is accurate about cannabidiol having no acceptable medical use, why is there so much recorded evidence that states the contrary?

Not only does medicinal marijuana help prevent and control seizures in children, it also has been proven to help treat Parkinson’s disease. Larry S., a retired police captain suffering from Parkinson’s and dyskinesia is trying out medical cannabis for the first time to cope with his debilitating disease. This is a clip from the feature documentary “Ride With Larry” and it shows just how effective cannabidiol (CBD) can combat Parkinson’s in just a few minutes.

Don’t these videos prove the medicinal benefits of cannabis?

Why is cannabidiol still considered a Schedule 1 drug by the Federal government despite proof of it’s medical properties and use?Does the US Government have a reason to keep marijuana and cannabidiol illegal?

U.S. Patent 6630507
Whats even more curious is that despite its classification as a Schedule 1 drug, the United States Patent Office issued patent #6630507 to the U.S. Health and Human Services filed on February 2nd 2001. The patent states that the use of a few cannabinoids found within the sativa plant are useful in certain neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, and dementia. Since marijuana contains compounds recognized and endorsed by an agency of the federal government way back in 2001, why is it that marijuana and cannabidiol still remains on the Schedule 1 list of drugs? The patent #66630507 is a direct contradiction of the federal government’s own definition for classification of a Schedule 1 drug. Did someone forget to check the memo?

Ignoring the whole federal government issue, even the majority of the population of the United States of America (Over 60%) agrees and supports Legal marijuana usage, making it the highest its ever been in 47 years. The message is clear: The people want legalization. Not only will it boost the revenue of the states that legalizes marijuana, it will also provide job opportunities as well as reduce the amount of non-violent offenders being unfairly imprisoned.

“ Recreational Marijuana is Stupid and Pointless”

What’s the point of playing video games? What’s the point of watching a movie? Going to the beach? The point is to relax and to enjoy yourself. There’s no real productivity or deep personal development in watching a movie, but no one thinks twice about doing it.

Many people seem to think that it is childish and escapist to use a mind-altering substance, but indulging in fiction is essentially a lesser version of the same thing — taking a step away from reality to have a different perspective. There’s nothing wrong with that.

A lot of it is a subconscious subtext of “I’m not into this and therefore it isn’t good” or “I know some gangsters/losers/other stereotype who do this and therefore everyone who does it is similar to a gangster/loser/etc.”

After decades of propaganda from programs like DARE, most people have bought into this view and humans by nature usually don’t care to examine their world on views too closely for fear of discovering they’re wrong.
