Go on a specific hashtag — for example if my account was about modeling, I would go to #model and other hashtags of the sort — and then sorting through this hashtag I would go and look through pictures.

Make sure you engage with the most recent posts, since the author is likely to be active, or notice your engagement immediately.

I would then click on the pictures and leave a nice comment on them, perhaps even like, and sometimes even follow the users posting these.

It is important to do the following on:

2. The latest posts on this hashtag: since those would be people that have just recently posted and would be more likely to be online and to follow back or engage instantly.

Another way is to use hashtags that are meant at attracting followers and likes. The type of followers you get this way might be less interested in the content of your page.
