Shall We Play A Game?

About 6 months ago I published the Google Debate : Parts 1, 2 and 3 as many of my loyal followers will know. These Debates really spotlighted what the Google juggernaut has been up to for the past 10 plus years with as many pros and as there are cons in all their glory. At that very same time I was in the process of writing an article speculating where Google might be headed in the near future. Unfortunately, before this article was published, it vanished without a trace. I may be paranoid in the belief that higher powers have been at work here. After all, Google does follow me. Is that a bad thing? I’m not really a conspiracy theorist but are they watching me now as they know I have been watching them? Well, I won’t be silenced. After months of searching through my handwritten notes, I have been able to recover my article in its entirety. So, here is the blog that almost never was…

The Google Singularity

As the Google empire continues to push boundaries, we will undoubtedly continue to see great things from them. Whether it’s their multiple social networking platforms, their search engines that accurately anticipate what you are looking for, or analytics that help direct the way you market your business, they are moving us ahead at lightning speed. But, the question arises, is it time to take a step back and actually think about where Google’s innovations may be taking us? Technological advances are essential, but they may come with a huge price, where we are all in sync with each other, marching to the same drum, and barred up from our own creative in one digital universe ready to explode. Getting to the point…

Google As Skynet

Many people don’t realize just how much Google impacts our daily lives, and how much we rely on them to get our business done. Their search engines, apps, programming, and various “other” services are used by us everyday. We are in essence, at Google’s mercy. What if that power would be turned against us? When you think about it, Google’s systems know everything about us, probably even better than we know ourselves. Their system collects data from our web browsing habits, gmail accounts, etc, to understand us. This means, besides our search preferences, it knows our location at any given time, our strengths and weaknesses, our fears, and even our secrets. Really think about it. Putting so much faith in a computer system is seems frightening, but it is actually not these little things that give me nightmares.

Google’s investment in artificial intelligence (AI) is what scares the jeepers out of me. When you add to that the number of projects they work on for the military, most of which are CLASSIFIED, a picture begins to form, and it could be a dark one.

Google’s AI Future… Just for Fun!

Were you aware that computer systems and AI already have some control over our military’s aircrafts, weapons, target tracking systems and more? Obviously, it’s believed that removing the human element from decision making and putting everything in the hands of a computer is a smart move. That means one less soldier has to be put in harms way, and you also remove any emotional element that can cloud judgement. This is very appealing to the military, and also why we should consider Google’s involvement with them to have apocalyptic consequences. Maybe you’re saying to yourself that computers don’t have emotions so what’s the problem? Well, AI is a completely different beast than just being a “computer.” It is a life-force capable of teaching itself to evolve. Imagine this AI system, created by Google, has been implemented into our defense system and now it is becoming self-aware. What could be the consequences? Why wouldn’t it exterminate us? After all, mankind would be it’s only adversary. Do you think it just sounds like Terminator or WarGames? It’s impossible, right? How many times throughout history have we said something is impossible only to see it come to fruition?

The fact is, Google is involved in military projects and who knows what they are creating. You don’t really think they are investing billions into satellites and UAV technology just to improve their maps do you, or to help you get from one business to the other? Of course, this won’t happen tomorrow but as AI continues to be tweaked and becomes more prevalent, it could become reality in the not so distant future. Like I asked earlier, is it time to take a hard look at the path we are headed down? Unfortunately, we may have already set the plan in motion and I don’t know if there is anyway to change the course for humanity. We are ignoring our path to singularity as long as it helps us in our daily tasks. Will this event and the likes of “Terminator” happen in our lifetime? I don’t know… but judging by the odd activity I’ve been experiencing lately such as unidentified aircraft circling my house, I believe that I’ve stumbled upon something. I know that I’m going to continue to investigate all of this and spread the word though. Unless of course, I vanish like this blog almost did…
