Recently, Amanda Wellner, one of our Social Media Managers and a Facebook Advertising Specialist here at Optimize Social Media took her knowledge to the next level.

Advertising on Facebook is complex. It’s a combination of finding your target audience, bidding the correct amount, narrowing down your delivery to appropriate geographic regions, measuring results on-the-fly and adjusting your strategies for the duration of your campaign.

If you don’t do all of those things correctly, your ad campaign will likely flop.

Luckily, Facebook has created a few assessments that digital marketers can take to gauge their knowledge and distinguish themselves from all the other amateurs running Facebook ads.

These assessments are known as Facebook Blueprint certifications and they are the only official recognition that Facebook gives out to individual advertisers. If you are Facebook Blueprint Certified it means that you have demonstrated your proficiency in an area of expertise in the Facebook advertising environment and Facebook themselves give you a badge of approval.

Amanda Wellner took it upon herself to study for the Facebook Blueprint Buying Professional exam which consists of not only buying-specific metrics on Facebook, but also all the core competencies that go along with running Facebook ads.

Here’s how Facebook describes a Facebook Certified Buying Professional:

This credential is awarded to digital advertising professionals who are proficient in creating and buying Facebook advertising for maximum campaign impact. You’ll need to demonstrate advanced-level competency in the following areas:

Managing Facebook Pages

Selecting and using Facebook advertising objectives

Managing, creating and purchasing Facebook ads

Targeting audiences for maximum impact

Improving performance and delivery via the ad auction

Meeting and reporting ad KPIs

Understanding and testing the Facebook Pixel and SDK

Leveraging consumer insights and the product catalog

Troubleshooting ad issues

This list doesn’t even include the core competencies!
