In a recent announcement, Facebook has introduced several features that will make it easier for admins to see what needs attention across posts, moderate conflict and reinforce community culture.

Since the whole reason businesses should be on Facebook is to build a community and interact with customers, it’s important to know what these changes will look like. Below, we’ll review those changes and give some helpful tips on how you can use them to nurture relationships on social media.

A New Destination For Admin Tools, Admin Home

Admin Home is Facebook’s latest tool that aims to make admin settings, features and moderation easier and much more streamlined. Each admin has unique needs, but with Admin Home, Facebook is making it simpler to find what an Admin needs quickly and in one place.

Here are some benefits of Admin Home:

  • Visual post, member & comment dashboard to see what needs to be addressed first
  • Reworked layout to show categories in a clearer way
  • New feature highlights to keep Admins up-to-date on future tools

Improved Moderation & Conflict Resolution Tools

With Facebook’s renewed focus on safety within their online community, Facebook Groups is getting some automation tools that will help Admins ensure Groups are a place where people can interact in healthy ways.

  • Optional restrictions on member participation based on account age or group membership length
  • Link flagging to reduce promotional content, with advanced ability to provide feedback to original author, allowing them to re-post after edits
  • Spam reduction through “suggested criteria” from Facebook. Admins can customize the criteria to fit their unique group, with the ability to change or edit that criteria
  • A new Moderation Alert called a “Conflict Alert” using advanced artificial intelligence that detects and notifies Admins when conversations have become contentious
  • “Comment Slowdown”, a tool that allows Admins to temporarily limit a specific group members posts or how often comments can be made

More Ways To Reinforce Community Culture

Since Admins are in control of Groups, Facebook wants to help Admins create and maintain a unique and healthy culture within their Groups. Here are some features that will allow Admins to understand their members better, highlight specific posts or set clear rules.

  • Member Summary, a view that allows Admins to see a top-down summary of individual group member activity, like their number of comments or how many times they’ve been muted
  • Admin appeal, a manual review process triggered by Admins if they have content removed because of violations
  • Ability to tag group rules in comments and posts, allowing Admins to reference set guidelines, which makes moderation easier
  • New pinned comments and Admin announcements

As you can see, Facebook’s new tools will allow Admins and Moderators to more effectively manage their Groups. Business owners can use Groups to grow their community too, so make sure you’re interacting in local Groups that are relevant to your business.
