FB Messenger Adding More Reply Elements, Including ‘Soundmojis’
Facebook Messenger users will have a new engagement tool to play with soon. Facebook announced a different type of emoji called a ‘Soundmoji’ that plays an audio clip when you use it.
In order to compete in the crowded chat app space, ‘Soundmojis’ should add an element of engagement to Facebook Messenger chat that encourages people to keep the conversation going longer.
What is a Soundmoji?
When you think about emojis, some of them just make sense with sound added. That’s really all a ‘Soundmoji’ is!The clap, drumroll, and crickets emojis are just a few examples of the specific emojis that will get sound clips. When you choose a ‘Soundmoji’ you’ll see sound waves around the emoji, and you and other chat users will hear the audio associated. Some TV shows, movies and music artists will get ‘Soundmojis’ too. For example, the recent Fast and the Furious movie F9 and Netflix show Bridgerton both have unique ‘Soundmojis’ in the app.
How To Access Soundmojis
It’s easy to use ‘Soundmojis’ if you already have the Messenger app. Simply start a chat like you normally would, then click the smiley face. That will open up all the expressions where you can select the loudspeaker icon. At that point, you’ll see ‘Soundmojis’ as an option!
Facebook already has a ‘Soundmoji’ library with tons of sounds and they are planning on continually updating that library with more and more sound effects and sound bites. The ‘Soundmojis’ should all correlate to visual emojis that already exist, so the emojis you already use will be a little more fun!
