How Cinnabon kicks “Bons” on Twitter

Who would have thought that I would be writing a blog about a cinnamon roll, but this is not about just the roll, it’s the company Cinnabon.

If you haven’t heard of Cinnabon, this business is the world’s most famous cinnamon roll, with one of the best Twitter profiles I have ever seen. With over 252,000 tweets, this company has “rolled” out some hilarious posts.

So, what are they doing right? I’d say pretty much everything… but here’s what I think they are excelling in.

1. Consistency

Posting daily, and having a consistent persona is a huge advantage Cinnabon is displaying. You may be asking yourself what does she mean by “persona” on a Twitter feed? Basically, a persona is the personality the company is displaying online. Cinnabon’s persona on Twitter is consistently funny. From posts to comments to Twitter chats, Cinnabon always uses the same persona. This consistent persona allows for their page to feel friendlier and intriguing to new audiences. Their persona also sparks so much conversation online and hundreds of retweets and likes. This page isn’t one you just follow, but one you engage with. If you tweet @Cinnabon it’s only a matter of minutes until they will reply with appreciation or feedback.

Their consistent daily posting is another plus. You can always count on a post from Cinnabon to make your day just a little better with a chuckle from one of their “punny” pictures or phrases.

2. Content

It’s always fun following their page and seeing what they are going to post next. The pictures and content used not only encourage higher engagement rates by staying topical but also add even more personality to their feed.

3. Communication

Cinnabon has excellent communication on Twitter. They use their Twitter account to not only engage with their followers but also to reply to questions and concerns. Cinnabon uses the feedback they receive to alter the company and adjust accordingly. Cinnabon began to use Twitter Chats, aka #SweetTalk.

If you aren’t familiar, Twitter Chats are a massive group chat at a scheduled time to focus on one topic. Cinnabon uses #SweetTalk to not only engage with their customers and fans but to ask various questions too. This gives Cinnabon a chance to listen to what their most engaged customers have to say and recommend changes to the company based on what their customers want or need. The feedback received is used to showcase their loyal customers and appreciate what they do for Cinnabon. This shows how important their customers are and the appreciation the company has for their loyalty and feedback. With the amount of feedback Cinnabon receives, you can easily see how much their customers trust the company and value their engagement through Twitter.

4. Commitment

With how often social media changes, Cinnabon is always committed to staying up to date on trends for their customers. They use the new features of Twitter to their advantage. Like I said above, Cinnabon uses Twitter Chats to stay connected to their customers and stay up to date on trends in society to keep their content fresh and relative. The company has such a strong commitment to their customers which is reflected through their usage of Twitter. Cinnabon’s followers will appreciate this commitment because they can rely on the company’s Twitter to be engaging.

So, what can you take away from this?

For any business owner the four terms consistency, content, communication, and commitment should be taken into consideration while running a Twitter page. When your business follows these rules their twitter feed not only will succeed but your followers will want to continuously be engaged with your page.
