There are plenty of reasons to want to bring attention to a review on Yelp. Fake customers, disgruntled ex-employees or competitors are just a few of the issues you might run into once you create a Yelp page.

Yelp prides itself on being a neutral source for quality reviews, but for most business owners it’s difficult to recover from negative feedback left on their profiles. Without any way to question those negative reviews, small businesses can have their reputation tarnished for months or years.

Fortunately, Yelp does allow their users to flag any questionable reviews.

Here are the simple steps you can take to flag a Yelp review.

1. Create a Yelp profile using an email address that you will remember. If you already have an account you can skip this step and simply log in to your Yelp profile.

2. Find your business page by searching your business name and city in Yelp.

3. Scroll down to find the review and click the flag icon next to the Useful, Funny and Cool buttons.

4. Write in your complaint about the review you’re flagging. It’s important to know Yelp’s Content Guidelines so that your complaint will match up with one of the accepted categories.

5. Yelp moderators will receive your complaint and assess the review in question. You will get an email in the upcoming days letting you know whether the review violates Yelp terms or not.
