Our office is filled with anglers, Crossfit Ninjas, hikers, travelers, lake enthusiasts, musicians, artists, athletes, weightlifters, auto enthusiasts, DJ’s and much more. We are an office filled with multi-hyphenates. There are a lot of varying personality types and people from every walk of life so I thought it would be interesting to share more about our culture. Here is a behind the scenes glimpse into the goofy minds of our employees.

I conducted an independent, peer-reviewed study of sorts. Just kidding, I created a Facebook poll and asked the employees of Optimize Social Media which ice cream flavor is the best. Everyone likes ice cream — right?

Here are the results:

7th place (tie) - Coffee, Birthday Cake, Cotton Candy and Espresso Chunk

6th place (tie)- Chocolate, Sherbet and Vanilla

5th place- Butter Pecan

4th place- Cookies n Cream

3rd place- Choco Mint Chip

2nd place- Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup

1st place- Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough

Account Creation Specialist Ian Humsey shares his thoughts on his favorite flavor Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough taking home the gold:

What’s your favorite way to eat ice cream? Out of the bowl? Waffle cone?

“Straight out of the container. The best way to eat it is to eat every piece of cookie dough out of the container.”

As you can see, Ian takes his ice cream consumption pretty seriously. Also, apparently cones and bowls are for nerds.

What’s the most ice cream you’ve ever had at one time?

“I think I was in 7th grade and my best friend at the time was on the soccer team and his mom was the coach. They had a rule that if somebody headed in a goal she would buy everybody ice cream from Dairy Queen. So, she was nice and she included me — and me being the little butterball that I was, I was just a friend of someone on the team. Everybody got free ice cream and she said we can get whatever we want and I ordered an extra large blizzard at that age and it was like a 32 oz. cup of chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream.”

That’s a quart.

“Yeah, I finished it and I felt — I can still remember feeling like absolutely terrible. Too much dairy. Somehow I survived.”

Social media manager Lorenzo Davis explains why he voted for Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup.

What do you have to say to all of the peanut butter haters?

“Honestly, I don’t think there are any peanut butter cup haters. Like, who do you know that hates Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups?”

Do you have a favorite brand? Like Ben & Jerry’s?

“Anything with Reese’s Peanut Butter in it is like, fire. It’s the peanut butter cups that make the ice cream. You can’t mess it up.”

Marketing director Jason Strand shares why Cookies n’ Cream should’ve taken first place.

To the haters, what do you have to say?

“I think the main complaint I hear from people is that Cookies n’ Cream is so plain. To me — it’s versatile. It already has chocolate in it, it has the sweetness of the cream in it, so if you want to add peanut butter you can. If you want to add fruit — you can. Whatever else you want to put in it works. By itself, it’s just the best.

Do you have any Cookies n’ Cream pro tips?

Peanut butter, add peanut butter whether that be peanuts or something else with peanuts in it. Peanuts, caramel and chocolate are like the trifecta.

Do you have a favorite brand?

I honestly don’t buy ice cream that much, but if I was going to buy ice cream it wouldn’t be store bought. It’d be like Grand Ole’ Creamery or like a nice place around here.”

Watch out folks, people around here take their ice cream as seriously as they take their jobs.
