Why YOU Should Work at Optimize Social Media.
When thinking about finding an internship the process is extremely stressful. Long applications, endless resume and cover letter updates, phone screenings and calls to find out the status of an application. Internships are great hands-on experiences to find out what interests you in the real world working environment, but no one tells you how hard it is to be chosen out of hundreds of applicants for the position.
As I applied to various internship marketing positions in the Twin Cities, I was terrified that the right position would never come along. Until I found Optimize Social Media. I know what you all are thinking, this sounds so cheesy, maybe it is. But I believe in this company and I want to share with you all five reasons to be an intern at OSM.
These reasons not only explain why I chose this company for an internship but why you should too.

This was something I truly valued about this company before I started my internship. Not only does this mission show how valued their customers are, but how the family of OSM employees strives to do their best to give their clients professional and unique content to be successful on social media. Being that the world of social media marketing constantly changes, it takes a lot for a company to keep up to date on these trends. Weekly training, constant research and hard work are all part of why this is such a successful company. I also appreciated, and now see how this environment strives to be the best place to inspire growth and education. This mission matched my values and I knew that this would be a good fit for me.
2. The Culture
The company of OSM has such a fun working environment. From nerf gun wars, dog visits and food trucks weekly they know how to balance work and fun. As a company that has grown from two employees to now over 100 in five years, they value hard work and appreciate everything you do. As a family, each employee at OSM supports each other. Whether it’s questions or feedback, this environment does an amazing job valuing support and success. I appreciate the culture of OSM as an intern because I can easily make friends and become more comfortable in the workplace setting.
3. Learning Experiences
Prior to having an internship, I heard horror stories regarding what this position could entail. From endless copies, coffee making or even being your bosses personal taxi. I was nervous to enter a job with little knowledge about the company.
From my first blog, you read how I had many learning experiences available to get extensive knowledge in Social Media Marketing in just the first two weeks. Since then, I have learned with how rapidly growing this company is, there is always something to do. This has been a great learning experience because I can work on a wide variety of tasks. These tasks have given me great hands-on experience to feel valued and appreciated. I‘m not perfect and these experiences give me the opportunity to learn and gain the knowledge needed to perform the tasks.
4. Creative Freedom
One huge factor I was looking for in an internship was creative freedom. I enjoy expressing myself and my ideas. At OSM, I feel able to express my creativity and my opinions and ideas. This not only allows for you to feel comfortable in the position but confident knowing that you are in the right position.
5. Growing Experiences
Although I am an intern I have seen the various growth opportunities available in this company. My boss, Jason is one of many examples. He started as a Social Media Manager two years ago, and now has grown into the Marketing Director. He is the director of the Facebook Ad’s Specialists and now has his own intern — me. Watching him daily, I see how hard working and dedicated he is to his job. Through his learning experiences at OSM, Jason is extremely knowledgeable of all aspects of marketing and it is very inspiring to watch. Shadowing with multiple other employees, I have learned that growth is a huge goal for the company. For OSM to keep growing, opportunities for growth will continue to rise, giving employees opportunities to seek those positions.
Although the thought of finding an internship can be hectic, it doesn’t need to be. Optimize Social Media is an awesome company with even better learning opportunities for Internships and careers.
