Today the process is much simpler then that, I will share my recipe for producing a program exactly the way you want without unwanted or unrequested creative input.

All you need:

1 DSLR camera that shoots in HD. A Cannon Rebel T31 would work and only run you around $500

1 professional editing system. Final Cut pro is accessible on any Mac computer and is the industry standard. Final Cut pro is $299

1 Directional microphone for top sound quality which is about $40

1 YouTube account to post the finish product $0.00

With this formula you can put together a quality web series for around $850 without having to bow down to a network executive. here is my finished product.
