For those of us who don’t live in a big city, or prefer staying indoors with their laptops at hand, looking for hidden gems around where we live isn’t the best way to spend the summer. Or You may dislike your hometown which is why you stay home all day. As someone who lives in a city where all the locals say “ There is nothing to do here.” leaving my house and going outside in this hot weather doesn’t have much appeal. So I’ve come up with four good reasons to go outside and see what your hometown has to offer this summer.

1. Stop Living Through Others.

Sitting in front of a computer screen watching people you don’t know travel while thinking “ Their life is so cool I wish I could do that” is a waste of your summer!Remember that these people have worked hard to have the money to visit all the places they are going to. If you can, start budgeting money so you will have it to spend on trips in the future. If you don’t have the money to spare or the means to travel then go out and try to have a good time where you are!

2. Learn How To Wander.

Whether you decide to wander on your own or with a friend it’s good practice for when you finally have the money to travel. It’s important to have a plan when you’re traveling, but part of the magic is to explore the small little shops and local restaurants each place has to offers that aren’t mainstream. Don’t be afraid to try something new!

3. Interesting Small Talk

The infamous questions “ What did you do this summer.” and “ Any plans for the summer?” Is somethings that stumps most people. Our mind immediately scrambles around to find something interesting we can talk about. Leaving the house with the purpose of finding something fun to do will give you a unique response that will leave a good impression; even if you hated the experience.

4. Having Real Reasons to Dislike Your Hometown.

Once you explored as much as you can where you live and still dislike it you can more than confidently formulate multiple plans to leave your hometown as soon as possible. At least you gave your city or town the benefit of the doubt.

I urge you to at least mull these reasons over and lead you to having a summer full of good memories. A good way to get started is to look up local online magazines or blogs that explore your town for you. These sites will give you new local areas to start your little adventures. Have fun!
