Dumb Health Insurance

My insurance company recently sent a letter stating that they would no longer pay for a medicine I’m taking and claiming that I do not need it. I do need it, so I quickly made an appointment with my doctor, and he wrote a new prescription. The dumbasses at the insurance agency were none the wiser.

“the majority of Americans have health insurance that includes prescription drug coverage. Yet despite this wide insurance coverage, more than one-third of adults across all income groups say that in the past year, they or a household member were told their health insurance plan would not cover a drug prescribed by their doctor. It was most common among lower-income adults: 51% reported this, compared with 41% of the highest-income adults and 48% of middle-income adults.” (npr.org, PATTI NEIGHMOND)

The insurance companies are insuring us to about 50%; why would they not cover the stuff we need to be healthy? Why do they randomly stop protecting and helping you with medicines?

The insurance companies also often require you to pay out of pocket, and then you have to request coverage. Then they often are very slow to respond and cause significant cash flow issues for families that cannot afford to do so as they live paycheck to paycheck. So why do insurance companies make it so hard for families to get the coverage they pay for?
