I was born and spent my entire life in Charlotte. In 2016, there were many riots in downtown Charlotte after the Keith Lamont Scott shooting. The police that were working during the nights of the riots used excessive force against the peaceful protesters as well as the rioters. There were a bunch of people rioting and using this tragedy to steal from buildings downtown. During the rioting the police used necessary force against the rioters to prevent them from harming people and others property. But while the police were trying to deal with the rioters there were also peaceful protesters that occasionally got in between the police and the rioters and would get tear gas thrown towards them or hit by rubber pellets which is not acceptable.
