War and it’s Affect on Communities

One of the most controversial topics of my lifetime is war and its effects on the economy and the environment. I think everybody can agree that if all war could be avoided that would be the best thing for everyone but as history shows it does not look like warfare is going to end any time soon. One of the biggest effects of war is the effect on the economy. As someone who has worked multiple summers and accrued money over that time I invested in the stock market and I have pretty much lost all of it. Another aspect of war is how expensive it is to participate in war. I know that the US spends more on their defense budget than the next 4 countries combined so this does not help the economy either. I am all against war and the effect from war are all obviously bad but I was alive for 9/11 and I have heard about how devastated the country was as a whole during that time so at some times I would say i understand why we spend so much on the defense budget (because we never want a 9/11 to ever happen again). I also grew up with a grandfather and two uncles that were in the military so I heard all about their thoughts on the military. I have grown to have my own thoughts about war and how it separates families and affects economies, but nonetheless I speak for most people when I say that avoiding war would be best for everyone.
