Orbitly now in orbit

Those of you who have been following us pretty closely on the whereabouts of Orca know that we were recently and quietly — due to the sensitive nature of our tool — acquired. Yay us!

To be honest, it is a bit of a bittersweet moment for us. A lot of hours and sleepless nights went into the planning and build out of the tool. To say the least, we are immensely proud of the team and how far we’ve come.

Building a great product is not easy, but luckily for us, we met a ton of awesome people that went above and beyond to help us through the ups and downs of startup life.

I’d like to take this opportunity to thank our users. Without ya’ll, we wouldn’t have been able to turn Orca into what it is today. Thank you for all the feedback, the good, the bad, and the ugly… all of it. Without it, we would have been building blindly, without direction, and without providing a cent of value.

What’s next for us?

While our journey is coming to an end with Orca, we are excited to begin work on our next project, Orbitly, a lead enrichment tool that can basically take any record or records, be it an email, phone number, Linkedin profile url or any social media profile for that matter, or name and company, location, address, or school and fill in all the missing contact data you want and need, so you can get in touch with anyone on and across any platform.

It isn’t much at the moment, but neither was Orca when we first launched it. And if there was one thing that we learned from building Orca, it’s to slow down, listen, and observe the market before jumping into a crazy feature build frenzy.

We don’t know where exactly Orbitly is planning to take us — there are just so many potential opportunities, but the one thing we know for certain is that social selling is here to stay and we can be sure that legacy outreach tools that focus strictly on email and cold calls will slowly fade away, while tools like Orca (now Alfred), FollowLiker, and MassPlanner (sadly defunct) will become more widely accepted, accessible, and used not just by early adopters and trendsetters experimenting and leading the way in the sales and marketing space, but also by teams and enterprises of all shapes and sizes.

Cheers to those who started automating LinkedIn before it actually became a thing!

Orbitly is a blank slate. Our mission has always been to build something wildly useful, and we’d like to do this with your help.

We’d love to hear from you. Share your thoughts on social selling and where we take Orbitly in the comment below or send over a message: team@orbitly.io.
