Group 7: Concept Proposal for Peer Production of Media by PwDs
We continued with the idea of the service system that forms an Institute for production of motion media, which will create a platform for the PwD with skills and motivation to showcase their abilities and talent through media and entertainment.We also incorporated the feedback in the service system that we have proposed.
Service System Design:
According to the previous feedback we have changed the service system as follows:
Our role in this process will be the designers of the service system. The proposal of the service system will be presented to interested facilitators, who will provide the platform for working of the production house. The facilitator will work along with Institutions (eg: National School of Drama, College of Art etc), and companies (eg: Atulyakala, Ability unlimited etc) to bring forward the PwDs who have formal a training in different aspects of filmmaking like direction, acting, choreography etc. These trained filmmakers will act as recruiters for hiring further cast and crew of interested and motivated people from NGOs and communities of PwDs. The team thus formed will work to create content for entertainment like web series and movies with the assistance of existing Institutes and production houses. The motion media will then be distributed on various digital platforms like Netflix, Hotstar, Amazon Prime etc, through distributors or by themselves.
Expectations
The platform, on one hand, will impact PwD to overcome their stigma by creating future opportunities, skill development, and employment generation. On the other hand, it will help the parents to cope up with their insecurities and anxieties related to the future of their child. As now they will have the platform where the abilities of PwD will be recognized and appreciated by the mass. It will also help in removing the stigma and create a sense of empathy among viewers.
Limitations
• Our Service only caters to Motion Media
• Success of system depends on viewerships of subscribers
• We(system designers) don’t have control over the system once it’s in process.
• Initial reach is limited of our chosen platforms
• Implementation and Execution of this system will be a slow growing process
- It is difficult for the service to reach people of low economic group
Threats
• Abled people may take over the system
• Risk of loss
• Acceptance of the system and the content
• Difficulty to bring everybody together on a single platform
• Selection process may be disheartening and create stigma
• Piracy
- If the content reaches platforms like TV & cinema, there is a possibility to hinder the working and authenticity of the system
