Something challenging

The EOFY period is often a rollercoaster ride for not-for-profit organisations, because it’s the time when most of our donations are received. For example, in the 2018–2019 fiscal year nearly 70% of our annual donations were received in May and June 2019.

Because we’re incredibly grateful for the generous support of our donors, sometimes we’re reluctant to ask you if you’re willing to change your donation schedule; we don’t want to appear difficult or presumptuous. However, the positive effect that an earlier donation payment can have on our organisation is significant. By making your donation earlier in the year, or splitting your annual donation into monthly installments, it allows us to plan future activities with greater certainty and accuracy.

Moving forward, we’re going to get better at asking whether you’re interested in making a donation earlier. We’ll move beyond the hesitation and discomfort that this creates because we know SVA can achieve greater impact and plan more effectively by having these conversations. Please know, however, how grateful we are for donations received at any time throughout the year!
