Development Update 023 — Development Progress & New Team Members

New feature releases, another addition to our development team and building our in-house marketing team!

Welcome to our twenty-first development update- its going to be a big one! We have a lot of news to share in this blog regarding new Sociall feature releases, another two new team members, the progress of our open beta and much more.

Development Updates

On top of many general bug fixes, optimisations app wide, stability improvements, etc. we have been able to release a number of new features on Sociall.

Just released:

Notification Center- On desktop machines, you are now able to click on the notification icon at the top right, and then “View all”. On mobiles, the notification center should be the default view.
Delete a message- Long tap on mobile, or right click on desktop, to see a messages context menu. From here, you can delete a message, copy its text, or view the user’s profile.
Change/update interests- Visit your profile and click on the “Interests” tab on the left to update your interests. Unfortunately, this is not yet accessible from mobile, although will be in the coming weeks.

We’re currently working on:

Finishing off the account deleting function.
Finishing off the account data export tool.
Continuing work on the Facebook migration tool.
Starting to work on the post sharing features.
Working on better privacy settings for account controls.
Preparing an open-source “Read Only” license before taking the frontend repo public.
Updating our legal documents to comply with GDPR and to accommodate for the Facebook migration tool.

Some of the above features will be rolled out within the next week or so, with the rest being released a few weeks after.

New Frontend Developer

After hunting for quite some time, we have found yet another Frontend Developer to join our team! He will be starting next week, so stay tuned for more information.

Building Our In-House Marketing Team

Crunch time is coming as the open beta approaches, and its time to bring in a dedicated Sociall in-house marketing team.

In light of this, next week we also have a very talented CMO starting with us, who will assist in recruiting an experienced marketing team over the coming weeks. We feel that this is the best decision to benefit our project and we’ll have more information on this next week.

Open Beta Progress

We’re only a few weeks away from releasing our Facebook migration tool. This is a very important feature that we would like to roll out with the open beta release. Our current development sprint ends on the 23rd of this month, which will include major features like the ‘delete account’ function and the ‘data export’ tool. The following sprint will end on the 6th of Aug, which will include the addition of the Facebook migration tool. After testing this new feature in the closed beta environment, we hope to take the platform to an open beta shortly after.
