A few months back, I launched a Whatsapp for Business channel for one of the brands I manage. I gradually found it to be effective, however I wished I could splatter the Whatsapp line all over the place and get people to instantly start chatting us up and convert to clients. I had this quest until I discovered some unique link on one user’s Instagram bio which had ‘whatsapp’ in it. I followed that link and discovered it launched my Whatsapp app and got me in instant chat with the user who owned the link.
A mobile-first approach even in marketing is one that I have found to be bringing me big wins in business.
In my part of the world for instance, I have found some sort of aversion to some online channels that don’t seem personalized or responsive in real-time enough. While Instagram Direct Messages have also been awesome for attending to enquiries, a lot more people have found it really convenient chatting with a business representative on Whatsapp.
A channel like Whatsapp or phone call seems to offer more responsiveness and personalization.
So, knowing that this Instant Messaging channel is quite important now, how awesome would it be that maybe from your website or your Instagram bio, in one click, a prospect could initiate a chat right away with you on their phones?
I discovered how to easily do this and have been using it successfully. We have now placed buttons in the Instagram bio, website, and service brochure that when clicked immediately launches the Whatsapp app on the user’s phone. Not only that, they also find themselves in our chat room.
Now, what hides behind those buttons is a hyperlink which I created and can be used anywhere. It is simply an API format which you’ll need to customize.
HOW TO CREATE YOUR OWN HYPERLINK FOR PROSPECTS OR CUSTOMERS TO LAUNCH WHATSAPP CHAT WITH YOUR BUSINESS.
All you need to do is to customize this API link:
Simply replace the ‘Xs’ with your whatsapp phone number. I would advise you use the SMS format version of your phone number. In my country, that starts with 234, more like your country code. But you should not add the ‘+’ preceding the code.
