Here at SocialRank, we ask our users what we can do to provide them with the best and most efficient tools possible. We have recently improved our most popular feature that allows users to compare multiple accounts on Twitter and Instagram.

When users select the “Compare Reports, Lists, and Folders” tab along the top of their screen, they are given a drop down box that allows them to add the profiles, lists, or folders of accounts that they wish to measure:

In hitting “Find profiles that are in”, users are able to add the accounts that they wish to directly compare when searching for overlap. The ability to view a shared audience can provide brands with a better understanding in whether the two accounts may be a good fit. It displays the users that are following both X and Y. These discoveries can also be useful when measuring growth and overlap before and after a partnership or campaign. When selecting “Find profiles that are not in”, users can then discover the difference in followers (i.e. users that are following X and not following Y).

Be cautious in selecting either “following” or “followers” when adding accounts to be compared. Data will be incorrect if the improper grouping is selected. A comparison of following and followers on a single account can also indicate those your account follows that don’t follow back, and vise versa.

Keep in mind, like single accounts, folders and lists are also able to be run and mass compared through this feature. Folders allow organized reports, able to be seen in a multi-report view, to be run as a whole. Lists are a grouping of Twitter or Instagram handles or ID’s, created through filtering, manually added, or uploaded through a CSV file. When comparing, be aware that both folders and lists are able to be added and compared as well.

Finally, be sure that any accounts you intend to compare have been previously run in the system, otherwise they will not have the ability to be included in a comparison. To ensure capability, refresh desired accounts in advance.

This tool is intended to create a fluid cross reference between folders, lists, accounts, and dive even deeper into your audience.

As always, hit us up at hi@socialrank.com if you have any questions, comments, requests, jokes, concerns — we want to hear it all!
