Once in Ghana (law claims it changed but women are still being asked to pay) a woman must pay $140 USD if she reports that she was raped.

In Ghana that is more than many make with their monthly salaries. Statistics for rape in Ghana are poorly maintained, unable to be accessed. I’ve taken to asking women and girls about rape & sexual assault.

This author was also sexually assaulted in Ghana, by the head of the East Legon police station situated in Accra, Ghana. Reported but nothing has yet to be done in the case.

This authors police report was filled with 5 Ghanaian suspects, when I went to report one for stealing my identity. I was met with Emmanuel the head of the police station where I lived.
