Our Hierarchy Of Needs

At the end of the day, how we see our pyramid of needs is how we live our life.

I was just thinking about the whole idea on ‘Minimalism’ when I heard about “Maslow’s Hierarchy Of Needs” while listening to Sam Harris Podcast. I wonder if they are actually interconnected and if you ask me, I think they are very similar!

In fact, the things we need is not as much as we thought so. From the things we buy and consume to the things we sell and dispose, most of the time, they are never in our hierarchy of needs.

Personally I was intrigued on reading and writing on this topic mainly due to the fact that I’ve had an episode of experiences that led me to the idea of minimalism. Though I am NOT a minimalist at all. It was about 9 months ago when I stepped onboard an oil tanker as an Engine Cadet. I realised how little we actually need to live by, and from that useless and meaningless display on my table to that marker that I bought for ‘just in cases’, I sold them all. My room, though far from aesthetically pleasing, is what I feel within my range of needs.

So what about the Hierarchy Of Needs ? Let’s dive into it, shall we ?
