As part of her work within the United Kingdom Literacy Association, (UKLA), Julia Davies has set up an International Special Interest Group (SIG) on Digital Literacies and Education, with colleague Clare Dowdall, from Exeter and Cathy Burnett, from Sheffield Hallam Universities.

The SIG met last week in London to make plans for the project. This includes the production of a book providing insights into Global Digital Literacy Practices in Education. The group also intends to develop a Framework for implementing a digital literacy curriculum and assessment by mapping ways of incorporating innovative approaches to digital literacy within existing curricular. Currently most global curricula overlook the ubiquity of digital practices in everyday life and the UKLA SIG is keen to redress this balance.
