Dan Goodley represented iHuman in Adelaide this week to share the founding principles of iHuman with colleagues at the University of South Australia (UniSA) and to help launch a new Disability Studies in Education journal. Dan joined Professor Roger Slee and Dr Marnie Best (UniSA) and Dr Tim Corcoran (University of Deakin) to discuss his experiences of working alongside iHuman co-director Professor Paul Martin to develop and launch iHuman as an interdisciplinary research centre that brings together researchers from across disciplines to engage with British funding priorities. Dan shared thoughts on the need for organic relationships to underpin research, the importance of ensuring departmental and research institute shared priorities, the significance of strong doctoral researchers communities and the need to engage proactively with public engagement and research impact in transparent ways with key non-academic partners. Discussion particularly focused on educational research as a space for creating and maintaining interdisciplinary work.
