The Literacies Research Cluster at the University of Sheffield aims to support and enable research and engagement around literacies. We take the perspective that literacies practices are embedded in everyday life. We are an interdisciplinary group, with research spanning across digital education, film, arts practice, ethnography and multilingualism — from early years to adults.

The cluster organises a series of seminars which are free to attend and open to all. We also run an informal reading group and will be setting up events to support postgraduate and early career researchers.

Our programme for Autumn 2019 is below (and also here) — our first reading group takes place next week.

We will hold a Literacies Research Cluster ‘welcome’ event — ‘Literacies, (in)equalities and voice’- on Tuesday 12th November 1pm — 4pm, with invited speakers Professor Uta Papen (Lancaster) and Dr Mariya Ivancheva (Liverpool). This is free to attend and includes a light lunch but please book via our Eventbrite page so we can order sufficient catering.

To join our mailing list please email cluster convenors Dr Jessica Bradley (Jessica.bradley@sheffield.ac.uk) or Dr Fiona Scott (f.scott@sheffield.ac.uk).

You can also follow cluster announcements on Twitter @LitsSheffield.
