Hey guys, nice to see you again in the new semester!

Today’s blog is to tell you about some services in the school website which you may not have known before. Upon logging into the student hub, you may find a lot of services and links worth exploring.

Apart from commonly used services such as Blackboard, Starplus (which is used to search for books and articles), and My Timetable, there are two services I would like to mention which is of great help.

Before searching for a job, you need to fill in some basic information, for example, your course information and contact details, on your profile page. Also, it will let you choose your occupational interests in a bid to recommend the most suitable job to you.

While applying for a job, some may ask you to write down your previous work experiences (either paid or voluntary) for initial screening by the employer. Therefore, a well-prepared short CV can be advantageous to a great extent.

But please be aware that most of international students are only allowed to work within 20 hours per week. So, do check your visa before working!

The second one is called Access Mental Health Support, to be found in the second column of Health and Wellbeing.

Some international students are found to have difficulty adapting themselves to a new environment. This is especially true after turning into winter time, when the nights getting longer. People are more likely to get down and upset.

Mental health service in our school is always there whenever you need any support for your mental health. After registration and answering a few details, relevant reply is sent by email. And of course, if you need any further support, such as having a deep conversation with a therapist, you can contact them at any point during your time in Sheffield.

Moreover, if you are shy about talking about your feelings, you can also choose the link of Self-help Resources below. In this page, different categories of mental health problems and corresponding solutions are included. If your situation does not fit any of these categories, you can go back to register for an appointment with our Student Mental Health, Counselling and Therapies Service for sure.

Hope the introduction above can be of some help to you!
