Is there a better way to celebrate our community than with tacos at a bar that is woman co-owned? We didn’t think so either.

Still coming off of the success of the Salt Lake Regional Round, celebrating a day dedicated to female entrepreneurs felt like a no-brainer. SoGal Salt Lake teamed up with Womenpreneurs, Braid and BetaBoom to host a celebration at Mountain West Cider — replete with tacos and libations. A percentage of proceeds from the evening were donated to the YWCA of Utah.

On the dot of six, the group swarmed the newly expanded bar area at Mountain West Cider, a surprise since events like this rarely hit capacity right at the start. Without much fanfare, the celebration was off to a great start with familiar faces from the pitch competition and the new faces our community members brought along with them.

Though there was no official programming that night, a few takeaways arose:

  1. Dragonfruit margaritas are flashy and beautifully pink, but have much of the same flavor as regular margaritas.
  2. Always bring a camera to your events; phone pictures never really suffice (evidence below).
  3. Sometimes smaller communities, like Salt Lake, are excellently served by collaboration between organizations, rather than canabalization among them (as evidenced by the amazing connections made at the event…stay tuned for more!).

Dim photos aside, a group photo from the end of the night turned out lovely, and there were cheers all around as a representative from each hosting group shared a bit about their organization.

The evening sparked idea after idea about collaborating in 2020 and as the celebration died down, there was hope in the air as to what the year to come would bring.

So, cheers to all the female entrepreneurs and those who support them — can’t wait to see what comes next.
