The third sector needs a new language for efficiency.

It’s difficult to talk about something unless you have the right words to use. And all organisations, in the public, private or third sector, need a shared language to communicate performance and success. That’s particularly important for charities, where donors are often trying to decide which organisation to donate to amid a plethora of seemingly worthy causes and, increasingly, values-based private sector competition.

The problem

The issue is that there is currently no widely shared language or metrics for the charity sector. The innovation and ideas are there; the language to define performance and the emotional value proposition are not. We think there needs to be a more effective way of articulating impact and success.

Our solution: a lexicon for the third sector

Adopting a new, shared lexicon, and a specific unit of measure, will drive efficiency and tackle one of the charity sector’s biggest issues: waste. But more than that, it’ll enable charities to articulate their impact — ensuring the wider public understand how a specific charity is performing — and whether their money will be put to good use.
