Today marks Day One of SoJo 2.0. For a while now, we’ve been hard at work reimagining the best way to support aspiring social entrepreneurs. SoJo has always been committed to supporting individuals who are passionate about using business to improve the world. And that commitment hasn’t changed.

What has? We now have a shiny-new site (and domain, we’re now mysojo.co). Our site now reflects the journey — and adventure! — that comes with bringing a new idea to life.

We started SoJo because we know how frustrating the start-up journey can be for social entrepreneurs. What you’re doing is pretty new. It’s hard to know where to start, especially when not everyone is taking you seriously. Most help you find is so business focused that it doesn’t let you talk about your social mission — at least not in a way that reflects how core it is to your company. As a result, business supports never quite feel like they fit right. It’s a struggle to communicate and it seems like everyone is speaking a different language. It’s painful, we feel ya.

Being social entrepreneurs on this journey ourselves, we’ve learned a lot about what kind of support it takes to succeed. We understand that social entrepreneurs need unique support that equally values your social change goals and your business targets. Your double bottom line means that you need to worry about how best to serve both customers AND beneficiaries, and not everyone gets that. We do.

At SoJo, we find, prepare and connect people with unconventional ideas about how to use business to tackle social problems, to the help they need to make it happen. Best of all? We use simple, jargon-free language to do it (no MBA necessary!). We are creating the Khan Academy for social entrepreneurs — a place where you can learn what you need to know, when you need to know it. A place where you can connect with likeminded people going through a similar experience and find supporters who can help you launch your idea.

Over the summer we will be rolling out a new set of tools. Expect to see tailored resources, quizzes and stories, that will help you build confidence in your abilities and make taking action on your idea more straightforward than ever.

So what’s next? In exchange for your email, or a follow on twitter, you can be the first to know about our new features. If you support our vision, we’d love your help in spreading the word wide and far.

You have great ideas and the drive needed to make them a reality. You see the untapped potential of business and want to shape its future. And fundamentally, you want to make the world a better place. We want to help.
