Covid Travel for Americans
Americans have been having a tough time with travel lockouts and reciprocity rules, especially with Europe travel. How are things looking now? How will they look going into 2022?
Traveling in the midst of a pandemic is undoubtedly stressful. With research and the right resources though, your stress level can decrease immensely. Let’s take a better look into this…

First and foremost, check out the country list CNN put together; you can use this as a reference before you travel internationally.
If you’re traveling outside of the country, make sure you keep your vaccination card with you at all times. You should also have an electronic version of your vaccination card; Forbes lists a few ways to keep it on hand.
Traveling Internationally
Just because a pandemic hit, doesn’t mean you have to throw your nomadic lifestyle away…just remember to stay prepared.
Quarantine: Many countries require a 10 day quarantine after or before traveling to their country.
Vaccine: You’ll need to get vaccinated for your health, the health of others, and to participate in most activities. Most countries recognize the three vaccines available in the US: Moderna, Pfizer, and Johnson & Johnson.
Domestic Travel
When traveling in the U.S., it is recommended by the CDC that you quarantine for 7 days. However, most states do not require this as of right now. Some places that do require proof of vaccination or follow their own set of rules are: Hawaii, Alaska, Rhode Island, Native American Nations.
European Travel
Each European country has a different set of rules for Americans traveling to their country, so it is important to do your research before you make the trip out there.

Who is traveling?
According to CNBC, a recent Vrbo survey of 8,000-plus people found that 65% of Americans plan on traveling more in 2021 than they did pre-Covid.
While traveling may not ever be the same as it was a few years ago, it can still be just enjoyable and safe. But be aware that more people traveling means surging air travel, less places to stay, more people, etc.
It’s important to take into account that a large number of people have still opted not to be vaccinated, and as long as this is the case, the pandemic will continue to impact travel restrictions. Therefore, travelers need to be prepared to adapt to any inconveniences that may arise.
Quaranteamming
Traveling with a trusted social circle of your choice is a good way to have social connections while abroad. Due to the pandemic, it is much more difficult to mingle with big groups when traveling. “Quaranteams” were first introduced when the pandemic hit in 2020.
Think about forming your own team, squad, or pod if you head out into the world!
