When there are phones ringing, children screaming, work deadlines to hit, and chaos between friendships, romance, work, and family, managing our mental health can be a difficult balancing act and it’s easy for our busy lives to start to take a roll on our brains too. Amidst all these, stopping to smell the roses — or lavender or even lemon verbena — seems an inconvenient task. And yet, pressing pause from the madness of our daily life is vital.

At times, things seem so out of control that it seems like none of our fellow mates can help. Maybe yes, our human friends can’t help us to relieve from stress, but surely our green friends can.

Stress is often an epidemic of modern life. In fact, it can be far easier to catch than the common viruses, and given the state of 2021, it’s no surprise.

An Aloe Vera plant has always been a top choice amongst people due to its infinite health benefits when it comes to indoor plants. Aloe vera is known to reduce harmful radiations that are caused by electronics. Now that we are surrounded by electronic devices and components, this succulent plant is a miracle. Moreover, its health and cosmetic benefits also make it one of the most prominent indoor plants for reducing stress.

4. Lavender

Known for its heavenly scent this plant is definitely a ticket to heaven. Research proves that inhaling the scent of lavender for few minutes has a significant effect on the nervous system of women suffering from premenstrual symptoms. It has also been found to lower blood pressure and levels of cortisol.

5. Basil

Basil contains a compound called linalool which has been found to lower the elevated cortisol that goes into overdrive when we are under stress. This plant increases physical and mental endurance, leaving us more resilient. Thus helping us in reducing stress and anxiety.

6. Snake Plant

According to NASA, The Snake Plant is known to be one of the best for purifying air naturally. This plant has always been proven to keep the air temperature low. 80% of people say they sleep better with this plant around, as it creates a more comfortable sleeping environment. This unique-looking plant could be kept around us in a cute little pot and thus helps us ease headaches, eye irritations, and breathing problems.

A sense of wellbeing and joy comes over you when you be with such beauty. The plants we have listed here are just the tip of the iceberg. There are tons of great calming plants (not on this list) that also offer amazing benefits and are easy to maintain.
