This week we concentrate on Search development and building a new feature — Topics, which is the first step to the Pro Content Creators program aimed on better visibility of niche content and an improved experience both for creators and consumers. We also continued to make Sola a safe and comfortable place for everyone by designing the upgraded Report functionality and planning of Sensitive content displaying functionality.

At the beginning of the week, you got an iOS update that shows the price of a card before posting and contains improved auto-save for a compose screen.

Product and Marketing

The Compose screen will be upgraded soon with a greater text area and will have the potential to extend the area with more options.

The new Compose screen focuses on the text and allows the user to add a card to a specific topic.

You’ve probably noticed the tag sign at the upgraded compose screen, which is the part of Topic functionality.

Topics are knowledge domains. When making a card, you will be able to attribute it to a basic topic defined by Sola. At the start, we will create a few basic topic such are Technology, Science, and Crypto.

Correctly categorised card will get additional exposure to the relevant audience. Authors, who fulfill the set of requirements can get the special pro creator badges to their profile with a number of additional perks.

Besidies basic topics created by Sola users could assign cards to their own topics.

Topics interface almost finished, development starts next week.

From now on we will consider all the links to the content or card, which violates our Terms of Use as a violation, as they support faster spreading of such content through the platform, and do not prevent it. Please report and swipe down.

Early this week we did a “clean-up” to test the automated fraud detection system. It was run in semi-auto mode; all decisions were confirmed manually to avoid mistakes. A decent number of cheaters were restricted or wiped, and associated AP returned to the system. As a result, some users might have seen a change in their SOL balance. If your balance has changed a lot — very likely you are one of the bad guys, and it’s the right time to stop cheating and not wait for a permanent block.

Such clean-ups will run on a continual and permanent basis, and automation will increase as we collect more data for the algorithm. In upcoming updates, we will add a new notification type for deducted SOL for more transparency.

You were complaining a lot about the flow of half-nude girls and other non-comfortable content on Sola. We heard you and started working on the implementation of the Sensitive Content concept. Soon, you will be able to mark such content and avoid it in your feed.

The whole reporting system is also being improved, to help you to make your reports more detailed and help our moderation team to react faster and to improve the quality of the moderation process.

Sola’s listing at the Huawei AppGallery is confirmed, and we’re waiting for the official launch of the Huawei AppGallery outside of China soon.
