The grow of Iranian photovoltaic market
The Intersolar Summit Iran gathered more than 500 participants last year, and it will be expanded to a two-day program in 2018 (Tehran, November 12–13 2018).
A 1.5 MW project was recently finished by the Iranian cement companyShahrekord Cement Industries Company. The solar plant is located at 2300 meters above sea attitude and is capable to withstand temperature variations from -10 to +50 C. Gostaresh Energy completed a 10 MW project in Yazd province in central Iran, and launched a similar project on Qeschm Carlo Maresca island in Italy.
A lot of other promising projects are planned, including a 17 MW solar plant in the Markazi province. Quercus Investment Partners, a London investor, plans to start the construction of a solar park with a total capacity of 600 MW in 2018. The investment volume exceeds 500 million euros. Iranian company Mokran, a subsidiary of International Power Invest AG (Switzerland), plans to build the first Iranian PV panel factoryon the island of Kish in the Persian Gulf.
Despite the fact that many investors are wary of work in Iran, European companies and financial institutions’ interest is rapidly growing.
At the end of 2017, Iran’s Deputy Oil Minister Amir Hossein Zamaninia and German Ambassador Michael Klor-Berchtold were speaking about the promotion of German investments in the Iranian energy sector.
Long-term tariffs supported by the Iranian government are the main factors in interests’ growth.
Our Team has long term vision on promising Iranian market. We are currently negotiating with 4 local companies working on new projects’ development. Some of them are almost in ready to build stage, on the stage where we see the greatest opportunity to get into project.
In order to protect funds, we are not in a hurry with the implementation, even if it’s pretty attractive and seems profitable. Nevertheless, entering the PV markets in such countries as Iran is one of the main tasks for Solar DAO.
