We are pleased to announce the addition of Richard (Rick) A. Kimball, to the Solaster advisory team. Rick is Managing Member of Samphire Capital, an investment and advisory firm focused on the emerging blockchain and cannabis industries. Rick provides strategic and capital formation advice to companies looking to use Distributed Ledger Technology (“DLT,”) to build new and disruptive business models. Additionally, Rick is a public policy expert and intellectual thought leader in healthcare and global finance.

Rick has over 30 years of experience as an investment banker and venture capitalist at Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley, and Millennium Technology Partners. At Goldman Sachs, Rick was a Partner, Co-Head of Global Healthcare Investment Banking and Co-Head of the Healthcare, Consumer, and Retail Financing Group. His focus on transforming the US healthcare system led to the IPO’s of WebMD and Athena Health, amongst others. Additionally, Rick spent 3 years working broadly on cannabis industry development, including public policy, regulation, jobs, clinical research, strategy, capital formation, and consolidation. He is a Board Member of the Lambert Center for the Study of Medicinal Cannabis and Hemp and is an active investor in industry leaders such as FLRish (Harborside Health Center) and Columbia Care.

He’s had an integral role in numerous projects in the healthcare space and he’s been a thought leader with emerging technologies. Rick is a Senior Trustee of the Brookings Institution and a member of its Metropolitan Policy Program Leadership Council. He is also member of the Young Professionals Organization (YPO.) Rick holds B.A. from Yale and was a Fellow in the Distinguished Careers Institute at Stanford University.
