Solaster Health Officially Partners with Good Shepherd Pharmacy

NASHVILLE, TN — October 23, 2018 — Solaster Health is proud to announce a new partnership with Good Shepherd Pharmacy. Good Shepherd will bring its novel pricing transparency and monthly membership platform to blockchain. Based in Memphis, TN, Good Shepherd has served the underinsured marketplace since its inception in 2013 and already has over 1,000 active members. Its model is simple: in exchange for a fixed monthly membership fee, Good Shepherd members have access to medications at little to no cost with no markup.

As a nonprofit entity, Good Shepherd Pharmacy does not accept insurance and is completely transparent about the true price of prescription medication — saving its members a significant amount of money per month. To bring this approach to a broader market, Good Shepherd will join Solaster’s decentralized health marketplace and build an updated solution on GoChain.

“Blockchain is the perfect platform on which to redesign the community pharmacy business model. The team at Solaster shares this belief. Together we’re going to build a community pharmacy marketplace that makes prescription medications affordable for all.” — Phil Baker, Founder, Good Shepherd

Solaster and Good Shepherd plan to launch other pharmacy-related projects together in the future that will enable them to offer similar models to more customers. The two companies hope to expand on their shared mission of helping to drive down the cost of healthcare, while increasing efficiencies.

“One of the goals for launching Solaster was to use distributed ledger technology to help lower healthcare costs by introducing new, efficient and transparent payment models. Phil and the Good Shepherd team have demonstrated a tremendous use case for blockchain technology, serving a patient population in need of low-cost medication while establishing a chain of custody and audit trail for drug medications. We hope to expand their mission and help them bring this model to a broader market.” — Stuart Lackey. CEO, Solaster Health
