Dubai alleviates COVID-19 restrictions for tourism

As of May 17, 2021 Dubai’s Supreme Committee of Crisis and Disaster Management announced updated Covid-19 restrictions. The precautionary measure covers the regional tourism hub which allowed all the hotels to run at full capacity. Aside from this, concerts and sports events are now permitted under the condition that all attendees must be fully vaccinated.

The news has given hope specially for the UAE which is at the top across the globe when it comes to coronavirus testing and vaccination. Even though the restrictions have been relaxed and tourism is back in the country, the government is still reminding people to still follow the basic health measures such as social distancing and wearing of face masks.

Restaurant and entertainment venue capacity have also been increased. This includes bars and shisha venues that allowed up to 10 people to sit on one table. In addition, wedding events have been allowed to have a maximum of 100 attendees. Home events can be attended by up to 30 people and basic health measures should be observed. As for sports events, the maximum capacity is set to 70%. The maximum attendees for indoor events should be 1,500 while outdoor events are 2,500.

It is important to note that these rules only apply to vaccinated attendees. The nation has also banned flights from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal and Sri Lanka due to the highly contagious Covid-19 variant.
