The Department of Tourism has allowed some hotels located in areas under GCQ to accept staycation or leisure bookings. This has been defined as an activity that involves a minimum of an overnight stay at an accommodation establishment that is not being used as a Covid-19 quarantine facility.

If you are planning your staycation for 2021, below are the things you need to consider before booking a hotel.

Does the hotel have a Certificate of Authority to Operate?

To ensure a safe staycation for guests taking a break from this challenging time, the Department of Tourism has given a certificate to hotels that fulfilled their requirements for staycation purposes. Aside from this, the certified hotels must also adhere to the safety and protocols issued by the Department of Heath and Department of Trade and Industry.

Here are some star-rated hotels in Metro Manila that have been given the go signal to accept staycation bookings: Grand Hyatt, Hyatt Regency, Makati Shangri-La, EDSA Shangri-La, Shangri-La at the Fort, Okada Manila, Nobu Hotel, Joy Nostalg Hotel and Suites, Solaire, and Nuwa Manila. Negative Test Result:

Before check-in, each guest needs to provide a negative result of Antigen Rapid test. This can be done on your preferred authorized clinic or hospital 24 hours before your check-in date or you can choose on-site testing. If you chose the latter, you may have to call them to set an appointment or walk-in at a specific time based on the hotel rules.

The cost for the test will be shouldered by the guest which range from PHP1,500 to PHP2,500. The testing process will not take longer than 30 minutes. If your result is positive, you cannot proceed with the check-in. The hotel will refund you which may take a few business days to reflect on your account.

What are the hotel restrictions?

Accredited hotels in Manila are only accepting guest originating from Metro Manila and CALABARZON (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal and Quezon). There is no age restriction for staycation but, those with medical conditions and currently pregnant will not be allowed to enter.

How many guests are allowed?

The Department of Tourism provided a guideline for the number of guests per room floor area which can be found here. Only single up to double room occupancy is allowed. Couples or family members who share the same household may be allowed in double or twin occupancy rooms.

Can you use the Hotel Facilities?

The restaurant, pool, gym is open in which you will have to set an appointment first before going. The hotel bar is not yet allowed by DOT to operate. Cashless transaction is highly recommended, but you can still use cash if needed
