Birthday Poems for Mom

3 poems to celebrate my mom’s 61st birthday

I. 61

It's your 61st, and I'm
slaving away at work, trying
to make these ends meet
so there will be more money
than the month, and I know
you're pinching pennies and
making things stretch on
your side of this Southern state, too.
