Heaven Better Be This Beautiful — If Not, Leave Me Here
Watching a sick senior dog finally at peace is a slice of heaven
It was a regular Sunday morning — nothing out of the ordinary with my sleep until I heard Jernee whimpering and scratching at her crate. I looked at my alarm clock —05:00 AM.
I breathed out a sigh, slipped on some clothes, unzipped the door to the Little Monster’s crate, harnessed her, grabbed her leash, and bolted out the door toward the elevator.
What would it be this time?! Diarrhea, soft stools, projectile vomit, etc.?! When you have a senior dog prone to intermittent digestive issues, you never know what you’re going to get.
I braced myself for the worst, yet it did not come.
Knowing How To Calm Your Senior Dog Is Imperative
We spent fifteen minutes outside. She relieved herself multiple times. No diarrhea, just soft stools. No vomit, just a few stops to pee on several grassy areas she has come to dominate these last two weeks.
We made it back to our fourth-floor apartment where I readied her for a snuggle in bed with me as I dreamed of dozing back to Dreamland.
