A few days ago we added our newest project to Crowd Supply, a tiny FIDO2 security key called Somu.

Somu is our micro version of Solo. We were inspired to make a secure Tomu, so we took its tiny form factor, we added the secure microcontroller and firmware of Solo, et voilà! Here we have Somu.

Like many other FIDO2 security key in the market, you can use Somu on your Google, Twitter, GitHub account for two-factor authentication, or on your Microsoft account for passwordless login. Somu fits in your USB port, so you’ll never forget your key again.

But UNLIKE many other FIDO2 security key in the market, Somu is fully open source and reprogrammable, it has a STM32L4, 1 RGB led and 2 buttons. It’s secure against online attacks and can be permanently locked down to be secure against physical attacks.

If you’re a STM32 developer, or want to become one, Somu is a great development board with a good amount of real-world code to tweak and to learn from. You can also run Arduino on Somu via the stm32duino project.
