I just found a way to absolutely change the meaning of passive income. Ever heard of stock photography? Well of course you have. But have you ever thought that you can sell your photos? That’s right. YOUR photos could potentially make thousands of dollars. Let me show you how:

1. Get photos

Well you have multiple ways to do this:

  1. Buy these photos here for just $10 and get about 120 of them. Since the owner has indicated that you can use them without any restrictions, it’s completely fine to sell them.
  2. You can also look for nice photos from people online maybe from pexels, pixabay and all those stock photography websites and ask for permission to sell them from the owners. This should never be too hard but it’s never easy.
  3. Take photos with your phone or camera of anything you see. It doesn’t really matter what they are since most are wanted on shutterstock.
  4. Look for photos that are under the creative Commons zero license and download them to sell them. I would not recommend this method as it completely undermines the dignity of creators since their work is being used for your advantage. It’s completely legal but highly unethical.

2. Sell the photos

Sign up to the shutterstock contributor program and upload your newly acquired photos to the platform. They’ll need to get approved but this usually takes less than a day on most photos and a maximum of 5 business days. Once they are accepted they’ll be on their marketplace to be seen by the world and potential buyers. You can also use other stock photography sites like Adobe, pexels and Getty images to sell your photos however I believe that shutterstock is the best.

Tips

  1. Shutterstock has over 800 million users. They won’t see your photos without the valid tags needed to search them up. Add as many relevant tags to your pictures as possible to make it easier for buyers to find them.
  2. PLEASE make sure your photos are in focus and are not AI generated. These two things can make or break your journey. AI generated photos aren’t allowed on there and if your photo is blurry, then there is almost no chance of it getting accepted.
  3. Watch videos on everything you’ll need to know about selling photos on shutterstock here
