We devote to renewable energy certificates (RECs)

Solvay has chosen to devote recently acquired renewable energy certificates (RECs) to its Specialty Polymers activity in the United States, which means that more than 50% of the power consumed by the business in the United States will qualify as renewable electricity.

“Our journey started with a pledge to Apple to deliver products made with Renewable Energy,” explains Mike Finelli, President of Solvay’s Specialty Polymers Business Unit. “We are well on track to meeting that pledge and are now expanding by devoting our recently acquired RECs (renewable energy certificates) to our specialty polymers activities in the region.

Last year, Solvay agreed to buy all RECs for 15 years from “Solvay Solar Energy-Jasper County, SC”, the largest solar farm in South Carolina which was inaugurated in May 2018.
