We co-created smartphone-charging leggings

Along with Alto Giro, a Brazilian fitness apparel brand, we are showcasing a high-tech clothing line that combines smart polyamide yarns with smartphone charging technology.

The project began with a prototype presented at the WeAr Brasil festival, and turned into a capsule collection of ten looks exhibited during Casa de Criadores, an important Brazilian Fashion event, held in November.

Streetwear with double functionality

The collaboration has resulted in a range of sports garments with a pocket on the outside of the thigh that holds the wearer’s phone, which can be charged by induction.

Developed by Alto Giro, the outfits also feature our smart yarns Amni Soul Eco® and Emana® polyamides.
Amni Soul Eco® allows products made from it to quickly decompose after being properly disposed of in landfills, reducing environmental impact and developing a complete and sustainable solution.

Alternatively, Emana® uses far infrared technology to convert human body heat into skincare & sports performance benefits.

The polyamide on the outside of the pocket has touch-sensitive functionality to allow the user to take calls and carry out other functions without removing the device and without interrupting the charging process.

“The big insight of this project was to combine the design of Alto Giro with our polyamides, Amni Soul Eco® and Emana®, and mobile charging technology from Ale Farah. The consumer will have a double high-tech experience with their sportswear,” comments Mayra Montel, Fibras Global Business Unit, Marketing.

The products should be launched for the consumers in the first half of 2019.
