Solvay researcher awarded bronze medal from CNRS
Vitaly Ordomsky is a researcher from the joint CNRS-Solvay innovation platform E2P2L* in Shanghai. He is dedicated to the research of eco-efficient processes and products driven by catalysis and has been awarded the 2018 CNRS Bronze Medal by leading French research institution CNRS (Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique). This award reaffirms the value of the E2P2L platform in creating an open innovation environment in which international scientists can excel.
“I’d like to thank everyone at the E2P2L, who has supported my research since I first set foot in China two years ago, for offering a platform for me to focus on my work. It is truly a dream come true for me to receive such an honor from CNRS. The award will give me a huge boost in continuing my work at E2P2L in the field of eco-innovation related to catalytic chemistry,” said Ordomsky.
In receiving the Bronze Medal, Ordomsky was recognized by CNRS for the fruitful results of his early work that demonstrate the specialty and talent he possesses in the field of heterogeneous catalysis, particularly his research dedicated to the development of new materials for catalytic applications. Ordomsky joined the E2P2L in Shanghai in 2016 and has since focused on the development and application of new catalytic materials for amination, oxidation and CO2 valorization for transferring scientific inventions to industrial applications.
“Congratulations to Vitaly on receiving the 2018 CNRS Bronze medal. This is a perfect case of a dedicated researcher receiving well-deserved recognition. It also highlights the unique value that our E2P2L brings to the international scientific research community in maintaining an open innovation platform dedicated especially to catalysis-driven eco-efficient processes and products, and we create the perfect link between academy and enterprises.” said Patrick Mastero, Scientific Director of Research and Innovation at Solvay (2015 CNRS medal of innovation).
As an international chemical industry leader, Solvay is committed to driving sustainable development and open innovation. The E2P2L in Shanghai was established jointly with CNRS in 2009 to offer a unique international hub dedicated to eco-innovation. In addition to establishing the E2P2L, Solvay has also been a long-term partner of the French-Chinese Conference for Green Chemistry (FC2Gchem), which is organized under the auspices of the Chinese and the French Chemical Societies, with the support and contribution of the members of the French and the Chinese academies of sciences.
The FC2Gchem conference has gathered more than 130 Chinese and French scientists from industry and academia in an interdisciplinary environment involving, organic, catalysis, materials, process and theoretical chemists. The conference is honored by the presence of leading members of Chinese and French academies and other prestigious institutions, who are able to exchange perspectives on topics related to the theme of the conference this year: “A better chemistry for a better life.”
