Fibromyalgia (FM) is one of the most common chronic pain conditions affecting 3–6% of the world’s population. The disorder is characterized by widespread musculoskeletal pain accompanied by fatigue, sleep, memory, and mood issues. Researchers believe that fibromyalgia amplifies painful sensations by affecting the way the brain processes pain signals. People with fibromyalgia may be more sensitive to pain than people without it. This is called abnormal pain perception processing. Fibromyalgia affects about 4 million U.S. adults.

American adults with FM were significantly less productive at work and needed medical care more often than those without the disorder. People who live with fibromyalgia often face limitations in their ability to do everything, from how they work and parent to how they relax and have fun. Nearly half of those with FM don’t their medication as directed because of forgetfulness, carelessness, or out of frustration. The cause of fibromyalgia is not known, but it can be effectively treated and managed. Managing, in general, can be difficult without outside assistance, especially for those without support in their lives.

Solve.Care’s Care.Wallet can help provide just that. Patients, their families, and their friends can use the HAYFT Care.Card to send simple reminders and keep updated on changing health conditions. Care Coordinators can also check-in and more easily spot issues that could lead to medical crises, encouraging fibromyalgia patients to schedule appointments for regular care. Physicians can use this data for better care monitoring and for identifying which medications or lifestyle choices are working. The same Care.Wallet can also be used by patients to track their vital measurements, such as blood pressure, and their medications to make sure they take the right ones at the time.

With Care.Wallet, those with FM can play a more active role in managing their condition, gaining a better sense of control and boosting their self-esteem, along with their quality of life.
