According to a study by the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC), new cancer cases and deaths have tripled in Vietnam over the past 30 years. Matters are only made worse by the lack of skilled medical professionals to provide care to cancer patients, with only eight physicians per ten thousand people in Vietnam.

This shortage in physicians translates to lower quality of care for cancer patients. Vietnamese physicians have difficulty managing the large number of patients efficiently. They are overwhelmed with patient requests and frequently are unable to coordinate the care that these patients need. People with cancer and those who care for them are often frustrated by long wait times for care, trying to find physicians, and trying to manage coordinating care on their own with little support from the hospital system.

Using the Solve.Care Platform, it is possible to build disease-specific Care Administration Networks in Vietnam for better patient management. Sharing medical information between care coordinators, doctors, and patients can be done quickly and securely through Solve.Care’s Care.Wallet. Using Care.Wallet improves care coordination, saves time, takes some of the burden off physicians, and as a result, improves overall efficiency and ultimately patient care outcomes.

Care providers can monitor cancer in its early stages remotely and easily through Care.Wallets. The How Are You Feeling Today (HAYFT) Care.Card was specifically created for this purpose. Patients can record their symptoms and any side effects from their treatment. Getting to appointments is also critical to ensure care is uninterrupted to have better treatment outcomes. Patients, their family members, and care providers can use the transportation solution, Book-a-Ride, in Care.Wallet to make sure patients, regardless of where they live, can get to their appointments.

Improving care coordination is essential, especially where doctor-to-patient ratios are so low. Implementing these solutions and others offered by the Solve.Care Platform help create a healthcare system that’s better and more accessible for those who truly need it, wherever they may live.
