What Does Global Citizenship Mean to You?

Global citizenship is hoping a sustainable life for oneself, all the other creatures and upcoming generations. A Global Citizen’s responsibility is seeking the alternative ways for a sustainable life. It means to apply critical thinking to global issues. It contains actively finding solutions for the world’s issues which one of the its ways is to participate in summits and conferences held for solution finding for the world’s issues. Besides, sustainable development is also one of the keywords for global citizenship. It means that countries and governments have to try to make plans for sustainable development. Besides having benefits for a country’s future and citizens, this can be helpful for the world’s situation and can help for the world’s betterment. Because world is consist of all the countries and betterment of each country helps in betterment of the world.

The next step for being a global citizen is trying to take action for solving the world’s issues such as; poverty, climate change, gender inequality and conflict, which are apparently unresolvable. However, the problems mentioned above could be soluble with responsible people who would act as Global Citizens. Fortunately, many people think globally and want to save the world. However, luck of motivation effects their thoughts and prevent them from taking the necessary actions. These people think either their actions cannot effect the world’s situation or do not have the possibility to act globally because of poverty. Therefore, we need organized and motivated people to work for sustainable life and for this; we need to have enough campaigns for people’s awareness and sustainable development plans by governments.

Likewise, the term global citizen is consist of two words; global and citizen. The word citizen is applied to the people who are holding certain country’s passport, which separates them from other countries’ citizens. Citizens of a country share many similar sources and have the feeling of unity. Therefore, global citizenship is considering the world as one home and its people as a family. Thus, the global citizens are those who consider themselves member of a bigger community and think beyond their tradition, religion, and race. A global citizen considers everyone as human beings and do not have any prejudice against anyone. He or she travels to many countries and learns different languages. A global citizen respects everyone the way they are.

To conclude, a Global Citizen is the one who cares for the world and tries to keep it as awesome as possible. A global citizen tries for getting to a peaceful world where everyone can live peacefully. He or she tries to find solutions for the world’s issues and acts according to them. In addition, many other ways exist that a global citizen has to consider for making the world a better place.
