SACRAMENTO, CA — Realizing at the last minute that there was no food left in her house, local mom Shannon Lorne repurposed her daughter’s macaroni art as dinner. “I nearly panicked when I opened the fridge and realized I had forgotten to go shopping today, but luckily the solution to my problem was right in front of my nose,” said Lorne, adding that she felt bad about destroying her daughter’s artwork, but in this economy, it beats buying more groceries. “There’s a lot of free food lying around your house if you know where to look — macaroni art taped to the fridge, 3D towers made out of marshmallows, and all sorts of nuts used as Christmas tree decorations. Do I feel bad about feeding my girls something that was covered in paper and glue? Yes, but it can’t be any worse for them than McDonald’s. Besides, cooking with repurposed art just doubles the love involved, so it has to taste amazing.” Lorne later remarked that if things get really bad she may try baking one of her daughter’s backyard mud pies just to see how it turns out.
